a snowstorm is Not in my plans

Good morning. Lorraine and I would like to thank you for all the safe travel wishes for our drive to the Dossin Great Lakes Museum for the Edmund Fitzgerald Commemorative 50th Anniversary Event. We have been watching the weather forecast closely for the last few days, and this morning at 04h30, when we checked the amount of snow forecasted, it went from 2-10 cm to 5-10 cm. It is not a narrow band of weather but a broad band of weather that we would have to cross in our five-hour drive to Detroit. We have a commitment tomorrow, so we have to make the five-hour drive back the same day. We were both very excited to attend the event and disappointed to have to cancel. We apologize if this inconveniences anyone. I was in touch with our contact, Lisa, and she mentioned we could come another time. We would love to arrange another date in the future. I will be in touch with you in a few days with an update on joining the Atlantic Huron. If any of you are traveling today, please be careful. The first snowstorm of the season is always a challenge, with many drivers not prepared with winter tires. Lorraine and I wish you all a lovely Sunday.

I was disappointed when the forecasted snow was more than predicted yesterday. We are sorry we had to cancel.

Yesterday I drove to Toronto Union Station to pick up Lorraine and the sisters were reunited to make the trip to Detroit together. When we set the plan in motion we never imagined that we would have to consider cancelling because of a snowstorm.

I had the pretty red car for five days and recognized the responsibility of remembering where I parked the car. I took multiple photos so that I could lead Lorraine and her red suitcase back to the car. I have my luggage for joining the ship and inside my big suitcase had packed my winter boots. Again never imagining that I would need them before I joined. I had them packed to wear at the end of my job in December.

I enjoy staying in Port Colborne and frequent the Pie Guy for coffee and sometimes a treat. It's a great place to watch ships. Our plan was to drive to Port Colborne, an 8-hour drive from home, so we would be closer to Detroit and the event. I packed my ship suitcase because Port Colborne is also close to joining the Huron. My planning fell short this time. We had to cancel the event in Detroit due to a snowstorm, and we will have to extend our hotel stay because the Huron is also delayed due to the weather. However, I believe I am where I am meant to be and I am spending this time with my favorite person, Lorraine (my sister and best friend. I will keep you posted.
